After Nearly 6 Weeks...The Twists Are Gone!!

12:21 PM

Hooray Hooray!! The twists are out!!! I began the dreaded take down process late Tuesday night and finally finished up around 10pm. last night. That may seem like a long time to you, but it certainly didn't feel that way to me. Based on appearance I could have kept them in longer, but even a "protective" can be damaging when worn for too long. As you know, I don't wash my twists...at all. Spritzing it here and there with water, but that can't replace a good thorough wash. My scalp was desperate to be cleaned after almost 6 weeks of wearing twists.
Last night after snapping the pics below I washed my hair in 4 sections with Elucence MB Shampoo and saturated it with Bee Mine Deep Conditioner. I actually still have the deep conditioner in under a plastic cap as I type lol! Once I rinse it out I'll probably set it in braids for a braidout...I don't think I really have the patience to do any other style.
Also I know I kinda hinted that I'd do a take down video, but I didn't...sorry :( I was on a roll getting those twists out and recording a video would have only slowed me down. However, I recorded a tutorial back in January 2010 and I haven't changed my method at all. You can view that video >HERE<.
...feels so good to have my hair loose again!!

  1. Looks lovely! I wish I could go that long with twist, but I work out too much and the sweat tends to get in the way of it looking nice after about a week or two.

  2. Lovely! I have seen on your youtube channel you used to do minibraids, is there a reason you stopped? I am going on a cruise next month and don't want to have to avoid water/washing, so I was thinking of doing those. Are there any draw backs? Any other water-friendly protective styles you would suggest? my hair is fairly long (BSL stretched)

  3. I know the feeling of freedom after the last braid or twist has come down. Kudos to you for having the patience. I hate putting twists in, but being able to be carefree for 5 weeks (for me) is the pay-off. Love your blog, your channel and your hair :)

  4. @Tarra I love mini braids, but I prefer look the look of mini twists. However, I think braids last longer and you can wash them co-wash and get them wet without them unraveling all at once or them get crazy tangled. For your vacay I would definitely recommend mini braids!

@Ash-Lilyy lol! I was so hype when that last twist came out and I wash able to wash my hair...it felt amazing :)

  5. Your hair looks great! What's even better is that you look so happy to have had your micro twists in for so long, but happier to finally have them out, :). You've been such an inspiration to me, as I've had my mini twists in for what will be 4 weeks on the 17th. Keep doing what you're doing, Mrs. KKQ!

  12. Wow Six weeks that is awesome! I just made it to 3 weeks and was so excited that I made it that long. My scalp was itching too! But I wanted to make it atleast 4 weeks. You seem to get a lot of retention from doing these so often.
