Braid Out Pics + Made From Earth Review

1:02 PM

Earlier this week I showed you all pics of my twist out that I wasn't quite feeling, but like I said in that post I ended up turning it into a braidout. Monday night I simply braided my hair in to medium sized braids without adding any extra products and in the morning I unraveled and rock a braid out.  At night I rebraid and add a little Coconut Oil when necessary. Here's my hair last night...

Now here's a subject that's not often discussed on this blog....mainly because it's something that I've always had issues with. Skincare! I've had trouble with my skin since I was a teen, mostly acne related. If it wasn't a breakout then it's was acne scarring. As an adult, breakouts come every now and then, but when they do come they come hard lol! Since October I've successfully maintained my skin by using the Oil Cleansing Method and prescribed gels to spot treat breakouts. So when I was contacted by a rep from Made From Earth to try out their brand I was a little nervous. I didn't want to mess up this winning streak my skin has been on lately. So I decided to not use all the product samples at once and just introduce my skin slowly to something new. Below you'll find my review of the PH Equilibrant Moisturizer and Citrus Fresh Lip Balm.
Ph Equilibrant Moisturizer

This is a non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic, light non-greasy formula created for all skin types. Protects and quenches skin for a balanced complexion. The pro-vitamin and antioxidant formula contains a proprietary blend of Vitamin A, B5 and E Acetate to promote skin cell renewal and collagen formation. It will leave your skin soft and radiant looking all day long without heavy pore clogging mineral or vegetable based oils.

Ingredient: Organic Aloe Vera, Palm Oil, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Safflower, Sweet Almond Oil, Comfrey, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Phenoxyethanol, Allantoin, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Organic Green Tea, Citric Acid.

Cost: 2 oz. bottle $22.99 @ MadeFromEarth.com

My Thoughts: I prepared my face by cleansing it with my oil mix like I do every morning and night. While my skin was a little damp from the final cold water rinse, I applied the moisturizer to my face. The consistency is thick and creamy so a little goes a long way and the scent fresh and light. I've been using since Monday and I love it! My skin is soft, my pores are minimized, it gives my a nice glow with looking greasy or oily. I'm not the makeup wearing type, so my skin needs to feel and look great as is...and it did! My only complaint is the price :( I mean....$23 for 2 ounces is a bit expensive in my opinion. I honestly can't see myself purchase it unless it was on sale or had a discount. In the meantime I'll work this sample jar until it's all gone lol!! Take a look at my bare mug below...(1st and last pic with flash/middle pic without)

On my lips I have on the Citrus Fresh lip balm. When you have a full, luscious, curvy pout like Moi there are no excuses...your lips MUST be soft and moisturized! I love the fresh cirtus scent, but I wish it had a little flavor to go with it. It works great on it's own and when used under a lip gloss. Read More HERE!

  4. I'm guessing 30...and not because you look it. As everyone else has said, you really look like you could easily be in your early 20's. I say 30, because I just turned 32 today (go Pisces!!), and I am always told how young I look. You rock the maturity and fierceness of a 30 year old! Happy Birthday!

  12. Your skin and hair both look great! Oil cleansing is the truth! I'm always curious what oils you use. I use castor oil and grapeseed oil and I use grapeseed oil to moisturize. I have oily, acne prone skin. I'm curious to see how my skin likes this oil cleansing in the summer time. I'll see soon enough!

  13. @GG Thanks :) I use a 50/50 mix of Sweet Almond Oil and Grape Seed Oil to cleanse. To moisturize I use Rose Hip Seed Oil, but I'm finding that it's moisturizing my skin enough. I may start using Hemp Seed Butter instead, it feels great and non greasy on my skin. If the moisturizer above fit the budget I would totally buy it.
I have tried Castor Oil for my cleanse mix before, but it was just too heavy for me.

  14. Your hair always looks so healthy! Love your braidout.
If you want really super duper clear skin that will LAST, I strongly suggest that you go to a dermatologist and get on Accutane. It is a miracle drug and you will not be disappointed, seriously. I had recalcitrant mild-to-moderate superficial acne and after 5 months of treatment, my skin is CRYSTAL CLEAR and baby soft. Accutane (or isotretinoin) is the acid form of vitamin A, which is the skin vitamin. I always tell people to get on this medication, and don't believe the horror stories, those are rare. I had absolutely no side effects.
All you gotta do it try it! :)

  16. Your skin looks so soft and smooth in those pics. I honestly thought you were 24 yrs old because I turn 24 this year and we look about the same age! I tried the OCM with 50/50 castor and grape seed oil but found that it did not work for me. I'll definitely keep your mix in mind the next time I try the OCM:)
