Product Description: Giovanni Nutrafix Hair Reconstructor Conditioner with Eco Chic Technology. the damage is done...or is it? If you over-process your hair, you need deep repair. this penetrating hair reconstructor goes right to the heart of the problem, addressing the damage caused by chemicals and excessive heat styling, both of which can leave hair porous, raspy, weak. dull. Nutrafix fixes these problems by infusing protein. Put this fix in your styling mix so the damage will really be done.
Cost: $4.77 for 6.8 oz bottle @ www.LuckyVitamin.com
My Thoughts: Did I really need this product? No! Did I scratch the product junkie itch?? Yes, until I saw blood lol! I've been doing pretty good with not buy unnessary products, but one day while re-upping on Aubrey Organics conditioners I got the urge. I bought a bunch of stuff and this was one of them. Like most Giovanni products, the ingredient's list on this deep treatment is awesome! The scent is nothing special and the consistency is creamy and light (compared to most of the DTs I've tried) which made it very easy to distribute. After applying it to my wet hair I covered with a plastic bag and scarf. The next morning while rinsing I realized how similar this DT was to Giovanni's Smooth As Silk Conditioner, which is a fave of mine. With that being said I didn't really notice the "protein fixing" that the packaging claimed. It felt like I had just co-washed with the SAS condish...big whoop!

Product Description: This moisturizer lasts all day!
Scented with calming lavender, it is present while applying to the skin but the scent then quickly fades away.
Unlike heavy moisturizers, Mango Moisture Butter is so light that you're able to apply your make-up immediately after use.
Does your hubby or special little guy in your life have dry skin? Mango Moisture Butter isn't just for us ladies. Men love it too!
Sweet Almond Oil is easily absorbed by the skin, doesn't clog pores and leaves it supple.
Grapeseed Oil combats dryness, soothes irritating skin and aides in preventing breakouts.
Ingredients: Raw pressed mango butter, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil and lavender essential oil.
My Thoughts: As the weather continues to get cooler it is so important that you keep your skin moisturized! I first was introduced to Belle Butters through one of my favorite Tumblr blogs, "HeyFranHey", and decided to the brand a try since I was in the market for an all-natural moisturizer. Everything in her online shop sounds amazing, if my money was in order that day I would have ordered a whole lot more lol! For my face I settled on the Mango Moisture Butter. Two of the main ingredients, Sweet Almond Oil & Grapeseed Oil, my skin already loves, I use these 2 and only these 2 to do the Oil Cleansing Method. They keep my skin in check! I also did some quick research and found that Mango Butter is excellent for blemishes, wrinkles, dermatitis and many other skin issues. I've been using Mango Moisture in my skincare routine for about 3 weeks and I absolutely love it!! It's a very light butter that penetrates easily into the skin without feeling greasy. The scent is also light and like the description states, it's not a lingering scent which I appreciate. If your looking for an inexpensive, all natural facial moisturizer to fight the chilly weather, definitely check out Belle Butters!
Ingredients: Raw pressed mango butter, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil and lavender essential oil.
Cost: 2 oz. jar $5.00 / 4oz. jar $11.00 @ www.BelleButters.bigcartel.com

Along with a sample of Mango Moisture I also purchased a sample of the Mint Chocolate Butter. The smell....amazing!!! It smells just like mint chocolate chip ice cream! This butter can be used on both hair and body, with yummy ingredients like African cocoa butter, macadamia oil and peppermint oil. I haven't tested it out on my hair yet, but fresh out of the shower I love to apply it to my feet. It gives them a massage worthy feel lol!!

Cost: $22.00 for an 8 oz jar @ www.AnataNaturals.com
My Thoughts: My experience began with the GMSB Shampoo of course. I applied it to my hair, one section at a time concentrating on my scalp and then the length of my hair. The lather was on the mild side, you know not too much, but just enough to get the scalp clean. After rinsing, I did noticed my hair felt a little dry, which was surprising to me since the ingredients seemed so moisturizing :(
I didn't fret for too long I began genorously applying the MCO Deep Conditioner, thinking for sure it would get my hair feeling better. The consistency is thick and creamy, and the cocoa/coconut/vanilla scent is pleasant was lovely. I let it sit for about 15-20 minutes and rinsed thoroughly.I hate to say it, but it felt better going on than it felt coming off. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either, which again surprised me since the ingredients look soooo good :(
Hoping to break the disappointed pattern I started braiding for a braidout (duh!) using the GTC Pudding. The scent is very similar to the MCO Deep Conditioner and the creamy consistency made it a breeze to distribute. My braids felt soft and gave them a gorgeous sheen, I couldn't wait to take them down down the next morning. Here's the results....

My Thoughts: I've been using witch hazel on my face since I started doing the OCM (oil cleansing method) last year. I use it as a toner after cleansing to grab any extra dirt or oil lingering on my face. In the beginning I would use a generic/no name witch hazel from Walmart and it worked fine for my skin...nothing special. When I ran out I decided to look for other formulations before repurchasing the same brand. I stumbled on the Thayers brand while stocking up on conditioner at LuckyVitamin.com and was immediately impressed by the ingredients and product claims. Long story short, I scooped up a bottle and have been using it ever since. The first thing I noticed about this brand was the scent, it actually smells really nice...like peaches lol! My generic brand smelled like rubbing alcohol so this was definitely an upgrade. Another plus about Thayers Witch Hazel is that it not only cleanses my skin, but it makes my skin feel soft and moisturized afterwards. On my lazy days when I have nowhere to go I often and don't feel like doing the OCM, I'll just squirt some Thayers on a cotton ball, swipe my face and be done. It's now a staple in my skincare regimen!

Have you seen this film?? While flipping through the TV this morning, trying to find something to occupy Niecey Poo, I came across the title of this film Happy To Be Nappy. I was like "Huh...What"! That's not a title you see everyday on your TV guide lol! So I quickly clicked it to see what it was about. Immediately my heart was melted! It had already been on for a minutes before I tuned it and I caught it right when these 2 little black girls are talking about their hair. These girls were talking like I wish some adult black women would! They just love their hair...how it moves, what they can do with it and how it's so different from the other girls in their class. The fact that their hair is different didn't matter at all, because they love it!! I look over at Niecey Poo's face and she is hanging on to their every word lol!!I was proud of them like I knew them personally. All little black girls should feel this way, kudos to their parents. After the girls, Mary J Blige narrates a cute poem celebrating our hair :)
The film is not just about hair though. It explores all the many differences that make us who we are and how we deal with them...from a kids point of view. It covers various topics from kids with various backgrounds. It's an awesome film that I think every child should get the chance to see. Heck, even some adults could learn a thing or 2 for these children!

Product Description
Ingredients: Purified, Deionized Certified Organic Floral Water (of Nettle, Calendula and Chamomile), Carbopol, Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate (Amino Acid derived), Yeast Extract, Panthenol, Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Grapefruit Extract.
My Thoughts: I'd been hearing a lot of good reviews on this styling gel from other naturals, so I decided to try it out for myself. I ordered my from LuckyVitamin.com. I used this site several times in the past, they offer low prices and quick shipping. So if you like using organic (or mostly organic) hair products or are just in the market for vitamins, you should definitely check out the site. On to the review...I wore my braid out for 2 days, but on the night of day 2 I noticed a bit of frizz in the crown and middle sections. So to correct the issue I decided to rebraid my hair and use the KMF Gel for extra hold and of course frizz control. I applied it in pretty much the same way I set the original braids, I made a couple in the back a little bit bigger though. The consistency is thinner and more workable than Eco Styler, it kinda reminds me of the As I Am Curling Jelly but with a little more slip. KMF Gel is pH balanced and contains no parabens, phtalates or SLS. The smells is very fresh and citrus, which worked well with the JC Nourish & Shine that was already on my hair. I use a dime sized amount for each braid, covered with a satin scarf and slept. In the morning, I unraveled some Vatika Oil and lightly fluffed.
Although I loved the outcome, I should have used a bit more, because just like the label says the hold is medium. Other than that, my felt very soft, smelled good and had a nice sheen. What more could you want from 3rd day hair :)
Kiss My Face Upper Management Medium Hold Styling Gel shows off natural hair gel at its best. Kiss My Face Upper Management Medium Hold Styling Gel provides effective control and hair nourishment all in one.Cost: 8 oz. bottle for $5.44 @ www.LuckyVitamin.com

...is a braid out of course! Monday or Tuesday (I can't remember) I finally washed my hair. To shampoo I used Shea Moisture Black Soap shampoo, it really helped to get all the buildup from wearing twists for 3 weeks out of my hair. I de-tangled with the matching conditioner and then DC'ed with Aubrey Organics GPB conditioner. Next came the rinse and I began setting my in 16 braids. The products I chose to use this tine around were Argan Oil and Jane Carter's Nourish & Shine...awesome combination. I did use the Jane Carter Leave In on a few of the braids in the back, but I just don't like how it feels on my hair and after 3 braids I threw that stuff right back in the box it came in lol! I keep the braids in until this morning and here's the resulting braid out...
Soft and shiny! A little oily, because I was a bit heavy handed with the Argan Oil, but it wasn't so bad. I would love to wear it down, but I think we're expecting some rain today and/or tonight so I decided to rock a cute pin-up to run some errands...You might remember this simple look from this tutorial >HERE<. It's a quick and easy look and I only used 1 bobby pin to secure it! I hope the rain isn't too brutal tonight, because my hair looks really cute LOL :) Enjoy your day ladies!

My Thoughts...
Love Love LOVE them!!! Let me back up a moment and tell how my experience with the Coconut Hibiscus collection began. After taking out my last set of twists, I planned on wearing my hair loose for a few days before putting a new set in to give it a rest. To prep...I washed my hair using the SM African Black Soap Shampoo and conditioned with the matching balancing conditioner. Feeling like my hair could use a boost of strength, I did a quick DC with Aubrey Organics GPB conditioner....I forgot how much my hair luvvvvs this stufff. It always leaves my kinks feeling strong and moisturized.Once my hair was wash, conditioned and detangled I split my hair in to 4 parts. For a leave in I decided to use the Hair Milk, which made my hair feel really soft and smooth. The consistency is like a lotion not too thick of thin so it spreads well, and the smell was delicious! The look I was going for was a chunky braidout, so to give my hair a little more hold I applied a dab of Eco Styler gel around each section and began to braid. Here's some shots of the wet braids...

I really didn't feel like washing my hair again so I decided to twist my hair up...I was going do it the following week so why not just do it now and get it over with. Because of the braids my hair was pretty stretched already and untangled so I didn't have to comb it too much. I just used my blowdryer (on a low heat setting) to dry up the damp sections and to stretch it a little more so my twists will stay elongated longer. Here's my hair stretched...

So...remember my twists from the Given By Nature review?? Well, it's been a week and a half and I still have them in lol! Once the got a bit fuzzy I decided to use SM Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque as a styler and retwist. It's the first time I used it since my purchase at Walgreen's. I didn't even know I could use this masque for that purpose until I read the label. It's states that the SMSBDTM (whew that's a long name lol) can be used as a moisturizing deep treatment, a leave in and a styler. That's pretty awesome! After smoothing and re-twisting with the masque my twists felt great and have a fresh scent. So if you already own this product, definitely try it out as a twisting/braiding styler...I think you'll love it! Here's some pics a few days after...
