"Don't need a trip to the beauty shop, cause I love what I got on top"
I'm sure most of you have seen this vid already, it's been posted all over the natural hair blogs. I just watched it for the first time today and had to post it here! It's an adorable vid and song, but the message is strong and clear. Love Yourself! No matter how you choose to wear your hair....Love It! The Sesame Workshop gets a A++ for putting this together, but to really get the point across it's up to us...the Mothers, Aunties, Sisters...to carry the message into the homes. It all begins in the home. Please watch the vid in HD with your little one below...Enjoy :)
The giggle at the end was too cute lol!!

This almost never happens...Neicey Poo sitting still for more than 2 secs and my camera being fully charged and ready to go. It's been a very gloomy, rainy day here on the east coast and NieceyPoo was staring out of the window. Clearly she was bored, Max & Ruby was on the tv, but she'd rather look out the window. So I asked "can I take your picture?"...lately she hates taking pictures and will make the most forced looking smiles if you ask her to. Not today though, she said "yes, mommy!" (She's been calling me mom and my husband daddy quite often lately. Its a strange, yet natural thing all at the same time.) And even gave me some sincere smiles this time lol! Enjoy :-)
Have the kiddies in your life made you smile lately? Tell me about it!

My Hair Update
For all the length lovers out there who asked me to measure my hair, here are the measurements....
- Front - 13 in
- Top - 14 in
- Side/Temple - 12 in
- Middle Back - 12.5 in
- Back/Nape - 12 in
I'm also trying to challenge myself in the following ways...
- Drink More Water- This will be very hard for me. I love juice and teas, but my lack of water intake has not been so good for my skin. i really need to get my pores down to normal size lol! And I'm certain that my hair will benefit to me drinking more water also.
- Take My Vitamins...Everyday - I hate vitamins, but I know the body needs it. I currently have Nutrilite Women's Packs. The packs consist of 1 daily multi, 1 Cal Mag D, 1 Hair Skin and Nails Complex, and 1 Ocean Essential Balanced Health vitamin. I received these earlier this year from Youtube vlogger DontUWishUKu, and I started taking them and then I just stopped. I buried them in my kitchen cabinet and forgot all about them, until recently. I have about 15 packs left, so I'm going start taking them again. I'll reorder more once I run out. Also, when I was taking them before I would throw away the Hair Skin and Nails vitamin, because it contains biotin and it has broken my face out in the past. But I think now that I'll be actually drinking more water I can curve this affect ...I'l keep you guys updated.
- No More Trimming - I've been a bit scissor happy this year and it's time to cut back. The only cutting I'll do is to get rid of single strand knots. I'll measure my hair again at the end of the year for the length lovers!
Also I was bored the other day and decided to try out NaturalChica's hair bow tutorial, here's my results lol!
Super easy..super cute!

No more braids and barrettes, at least for now, for my little monster. Let me give you a bit of background on the midget....she's a wild child with tons of energy! I've always braided her hair into various styles to keep from having to worry about how her hair will look after she has flip off the couch or tried to balance on her head lol.
So over the weekend I decided to try something different with her hair. Something that would give her hair a break from the pulling of the braids, something that would be quick and easy to maintain....a wash & go? Yes!!! I washed her hair with Giovanni Triple Threat Shampoo, applied the Triple Threat Conditioner, which I let sit for 5-7 minutes, then rinsed with cool water.
While wet and with a little bit of conditioner still in her hair I smoothed in some Coconut Oil. Then I raked/fingercombed Clear EcoStyler Gel throughout her hair. Not too much though, a little bit goes a long way with EcoStyler and I didn't want it to be too crunchy. Here's how it looked wet....
After if dried I pulled it up into a puff...
On my next shopping trip I plan on getting her some Aloe Vera Gel, which would be a better choice for her young hair. It will probably keep herhair moisturized and less crunchy...lesson learned. The next day I spritzed it was a little smushed, she's a wild sleeper, so I sprtized it with water and fluff. Her curls sprung right back up!! I should have thought of this sooner lol!

Re-post: Going through my archives I came across this post I did a couple months ago and wanted to share it with you guys again...Enjoy :-)
I went back and watched a few more clips of the "Good Hair" episode of The Tyra Banks show and got upset all over again. The children on the show had such a strong dislike for who they really are and it's all because of the parents. If you constantly tell a child that spinach is disgusting , then before they even try it they'll hate it just because mommy hates it. Same thing goes when you tell a child that her hair is too hard to handle or why can't your hair be like this and not be like that. Your feeding that negativity straight to her. Think before you speak when talking to a child ,because they are always listening even when it seems like they are not. When I do my niece's hair they are no tears and I think she actually likes getting her hair done. And when I'm done I turn her head from side to side and say, in a goofy kid voice, "Awww Pretty" over and over again. I know it's silly right but she loves it. And when I do my hair she comes and does the same thing to me.
All the things that makes us who we are begins in the home. The way we carry ourselves and the level of self esteem we have comes from having a great support system behind us. People who love you for being you no matter what hair type you have. Below are a couple of clips and links of mothers taking the time to learn how to care for their children's hair. And teaching their children along the way.
