Quick Review: Shea Moisture Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque

2:39 PM

So...remember my twists from the Given By Nature review?? Well, it's been a week and a half and I still have them in lol! Once the got a bit fuzzy I decided to use SM Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque as a styler and retwist. It's the first time I used it since my purchase at Walgreen's. I didn't even know I could use this masque for that purpose until I read the label. It's states that the SMSBDTM (whew that's a long name lol) can be used as a moisturizing deep treatment, a leave in and a styler. That's pretty awesome! After smoothing and re-twisting with the masque my twists felt great and have a fresh scent. So if you already own this product, definitely try it out as a twisting/braiding styler...I think you'll love it! Here's some pics a few days after...

I'll do a full review once I try it as a deep treatment :)

  1. I use this product as a deep conditioning treatment and I love it for that purpose instead of to twist with. It's been a while since I've tried it for twisting but the one thing I don't like is this particular scent. I much rather prefer the scent of the coconut hibiscus products from SM.

Your twists look fantastic and your hair is so amazingly healthy. I always enjoy your hair photos.

  3. They look great. When you retwist do you take them down one by one and retwist each twist?

  5. @LaNeshe Thanks! Yes...I completely re-twisted most of my twists. There were a few that still were in good shape so, I just applied the masque to the twist without unraveling.

  7. I live by this as a twistout/braidout styler. Its the only thing that works to give me soft, defined, shiny -out styles.
I've tried it as a Deep Treatment masque. It sucked for my hair and produced no visible results.
but I use it so frequently as a styler, that I'm still getting the awesome benefits!

  8. I actually like this product better as a leave in/styler. As a deep conditioner it sucks on my hair, but as a leave-in my twist outs come out moisturized & defined

  9. I used this as a styler during Christmas break after reading the label too. I had the most beautiful and defined twist out ever and my hair still stayed soft. My mother even kept commenting on how great the twist out looked. I bet you will come back talking about how great your twist out looks in your full review.

As a deep conditioner . . . not so great.
