My Thoughts...
Love Love LOVE them!!!  Let me back up a moment and tell how my experience with the Coconut Hibiscus collection began. After taking out my last set of twists, I planned on wearing my hair loose for a few days before putting a new set in to give it a rest. To prep...I washed my hair using the SM African Black Soap Shampoo and conditioned with the matching balancing conditioner. Feeling like my hair could use a boost of strength, I did a quick DC with Aubrey Organics GPB conditioner....I forgot how much my hair luvvvvs this stufff. It always leaves my kinks feeling strong and moisturized.

Once my hair was wash, conditioned and detangled I split my hair in to 4 parts. For a leave in I decided to use the Hair Milk, which made my hair feel really soft and smooth. The consistency is like a lotion not too thick of thin so it spreads well, and the smell was delicious! The look I was going for was a chunky braidout, so to give my hair a little more hold I applied a dab of Eco Styler gel around each section and began to braid. Here's some shots of the wet braids...
I had never done a braid out in this way before so I wasn't sure what to expect when I took them done the next morning. After the were all dry (so I thought) the next day I began to unravel using a little bit of Sweet Almond Oil to coat my fingers. However, once I got to were the loose braid starts and the cornrowed braid ends my hair was still very damp. When I put the braids in I did so very lazily so the braid out wasn't coming out very smooth at all. I had soft hair with absolutely no definition...
Although the braid out was a fail I DO NOT blame the Hair Milk. It was my fault. Poor execution and bad technique killed this braid out. On the flip side, my hair was super soft and had a nice healthy sheen to it. It didn't feel heavy or greasy at all. Even the parts where I applied the Eco Styler were soft.

I really didn't feel like washing my hair again so I decided to twist my hair up...I was going do it the following week so why not just do it now and get it over with. Because of the braids my hair was pretty stretched already and untangled so I didn't have to comb it too much. I just used my blowdryer (on a low heat setting) to dry up the damp sections and to stretch it a little more so my twists will stay elongated longer. Here's my hair stretched...

After blow drying I began twisting medium sized twists using the Curl Enhancing Smoothie. I loved this stuff!! It's thick, but not too thick that it doesn't spread easily and again the smell is delicious!!! I can't judge its "curl enhancing" abilities (side eye), but it's smoothing effects are bomb.com! My twists actually felt silky...and I never use that word to describe my hair, but I'm claiming it today lol! My twists felt smooth and soft from root to tip. No greasiness whatsoever. One of the great things about it is that you really don't have to use a lot of this product, a little really does go a long way. However, if your looking for a product to keep your twists stretched, this may not be for you. The shrinkage didn't bother me too much, but I thought I mention it anyway. Here's a few pics of my finished twists...
As you can see in the last pic, the twists vary in size. Doing so makes the process of twisting my hair go by so much quicker...this set only took me 4-4.5 hours to complete. I could definitely see myself repurchasing both of these products. They both lived up to their descriptions, the prices is reasonable and the you can actually find them in store as well as online. I even love the packaging lol!! Also if the the Curl Enhancing works just as good on my wet hair, I might replaces my beloved Bee Mine Curly Butter as one of my fave stylers....I'll keep you guys updated on that comparison :)
Also, I plan to keep these twists in no longer than 3 weeks...maybe 3.5 weeks lol. This coming Friday will make them 2 weeks old.

What are your Shea Moisture products??

  3. I love both of these products, especially the CES for my flat twist outs & twist outs!! The Style Milk is an AWESOME Leave-In!
I replaced my Bee Mine Curly Butter for the CES MAINLY because of the cost/availability in stores, but I still do love my curly butter .. & I'm trying *key word trying lol* not to buy new products for my hair even though they both last long. I prefer Bee Mine when I want more hold and the CES when I want softer fluffier hair. SO... good luck deciding which one to keep..lol :]

  5. I love both of the products! The hair is really good. I've tried to like the Curly Butter but if I use alone my hair is dry and crunchy :-(. Your twists are always beautiful. Can't wait to get to your length!

  6. I too love the smoothie for both mini twist and braid outs. My hair always comes out shiny and moisturized each and every time. I also don't have to add any oil to my hair for at least 3-4days because it keeps my hair moisturizer.

  8. I like the Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Style Milk, but the DEEP TREATMENT MASQUE is my FAV!!!! I love it!!! That product has been giving me the BEST twist outs and braid outs EVER in LIFE!!! I've used it for mini twists and chunky twists and it works great on both. I've never tried the Style Milk as a leave-in, so I think I'll try that soon. I LOVE your hair too!!

  9. I use the Moisture Retention Shampoo and the Deep Treatment Masque (as a leave-in only). Both products are hoilt grails as well as staples. The shampoo leaves my scalp clean and my hair soft. The Deep Treatment Masque is amazing--I get soft, defined, sheen-y hair every time I use it (regardless of style). It gives moisture for days withot sealing (I'm not a fan of sealing).

P.S. The old jars are awesome for storing my homemade body butter and body scrubs. Once I finish my current jar, I'm gonna put my coconut oil in it for easier access.

  11. This is why I love this blog. Was wondering whether I should go to Target/Walmart and finally purchase my first SM products. Go figure now I won't have to because I just won a Curlmart giveaway and it's sending me these exact items. Can't wait to try the CES/HM even though I am a tried and true BM Curly Butter customer and I don't think anything will change that ever. LOL

  16. Just wondering if you ended up replacing your Curly Butter with the SM Smoothie? I am getting low on my CB and can't decide if I should get more... I really want to start buying products at the store and the SM is cheaper than Bee Mine, especially with their BOGO at Walgreens. But, I am not a huge fan of the SM Milk soI'm not sure!

  17. I love the CES because not only does a little go a long way, but I like to add water and other oils and stuff in it that I like. I put glycerine, olive, almond, avacado, lemon essential oil and mix it. The CES is so thick it can handle adding water and it wont get runny or anything. LOVE that stuff
